OAK ISLAND, N.C. - The Coast Guard medevaced a 48-year-old man from aboard the tug Carribean Sea 25 miles off the coast of Oak Island Monday.
Coast Guard Sector North Carolina watchstanders received report of a tug crewman that sustained a back injury after a fall.
A rescue boat crew from Coast Guard Station Oak Island was dispatched and arrived on scene to transport the man to awaiting emergency medical personnel at Southport Marina. EMS took the man to Dosher Hospital for treatment.
