GULF STRIKE TEAM DEPLOYS TO OIL SPILL IN PORT ARTHUR, TX

MOBILE, Ala. - Three members of the Gulf Strike Team deployed today in response to an oil spill in Port Arthur, Texas.

The strike team members are en route and will assist Marine Safety Unit Port Arthur with contractor oversight, site safety and technical expertise in the containment and cleanup of the approximately 1,890-gallon discharge.

The pipeline belongs to Tammany Oil and Gas. 

The Gulf Strike Team is part of the National Strike Force which is a vital national asset comprised of a unique, highly-trained cadre of Coast Guard professionals who are rapidly deployable with specialized equipment and incident management skills.  The teams provide contractor oversight, air/water/soil sampling, site safety and cost and photo documentation during natural disasters, oil spills, chemical releases, weapons of mass destruction responses and other incidents.

The cause of the incident is under investigation.
