Coast Guard monitors sunken fishing vessel

SALISBURY, Mass. – The Coast Guard is currently monitoring a sunken vessel near the mouth of the Merrimack River after three people were rescued, by a good Samaritan, after their 17-foot pleasure craft sank July 19, 2010.

The motor vessel Captain’s Lady III rescued the three people and safely transported them to a dock on Plum Island.

Coast Guard Sector Boston launched Station Merrimack River and issued an Urgent Marine Information Broadcast to notify local mariners of the situation.

Sector Boston issued a Safety Marine Information Broadcast as a result of the sunken vessel. There is no sign of pollution at this time.

The vessel is unable to be located at this time and the Coast Guard will contact the owner of the vessel to determine salvage plans.
