WHO: Capt. John R. Caplis, Deputy Commander of Coast Guard Sector Los Angeles - Long Beach and Lynwood D. Douthett, a Coast Guard Auxiliary spokesman, will be available to discuss security awareness training opportunities and what it means to the public.
WHAT: Media representatives are invited to a press briefing about a security awareness training program called S.E.T.S. S.E.T.S. is an acronym for Surveillance, Elicitation, Test of security and Suspicious behavior.
WHERE: Integrated Support Command San Pedro, 1001 South Seaside Ave, Building 32 (Lighthouse Room), San Pedro, Calif., 90731. Upon arrival here, a valid identification is necessary for entry to the sector facility.
WHEN: 10:00 a.m. - 11:00 a.m., Friday, June 11, 2010.
WHY: The S.E.T.S. program was developed to instruct maritime stakeholders, companies, civil and community groups about the methods to identify four core indicators of potential terrorist incidents. The program will give the trainees the appropriate process to record and report their observations to the proper authorities in a timely manner.
